Introducing the 2018 Dexter Little League Board!

Melissa Boobyer, President:  In 2012, my son and I moved to Dexter and we immediately wanted to be part of this great community.  I decided to join the board in 2013 starting as the Safety Director and now have been in the President role for three seasons.  My son Reed is going into his last year of Majors and has had the privilege to play on the District teams.  I have had an opportunity to be a parent, a coach and now a leader to engage the community with the love of the game as well as this wonderful city.

Rick Brandt, Vice President: I have a daughter & son in Dexter Little League; my daughter plays Majors softball and my son is in Minors baseball. I've coached at all levels of softball and baseball for Little League, and have had the honor of coaching the 10U Softball All-Star Team to a District 3 Championship in 2017 (with an appearance in the state Little League tournament in 2017), and the 12U Softball All-Star Team to a District 3 Championship in 2018. This is my second year on the DLL board.

Samantha Brandt, Member-at-Large: I am in my fourth year on the DLL Board, this year as a Member At Large; I was previously the information and website director for three years. I am the mom of two Dexter Little Leaguers - a minors baseball player and a majors softball player. You can find me at the fields scorekeeping on my phone, sometimes also knitting, and always with two pairs of glasses on my head.
Mike Cipolla, Member-at-Large

My name is Mike Cipolla. I am the father of two boys here in the district. Paul (10) and Luke (8) They both love playing Dexter Little League in the spring. I have been a head coach for 3 seasons of Machine Pitch baseball. I truly enjoy working with the kids and seeing how excited they become when they do something new or achieve a goal they have set. Baseball teaches us all invaluable lessons that we take out into our lives. Teamwork, perseverance, and having a positive attitude can overcome most obstacles.

I volunteer in many capacities within the district. I have coached other sports teams and I am currently on the Ed. Foundation board. We support our amazing teachers. I love all sports and the outdoors. I will continue to work hard to make Dexter Little League and Dexter a better for everyone.

Jill Dromazos, Member-at-Large: I am the mom to two boys who have loved Dexter Little League since t-ball and our family keeps all these memories close to our hearts.  My oldest son was blessed to be a part of the 12-year-old All-Star Team in 2017 that became the state runner-ups and my youngest will be enjoying his second year in Majors this coming spring.

Michelle Evans, Secretary: I have 9-year-old twin boys in Dexter Little League.  I began volunteering in 2014 when my boys first started playing t-ball.  I have been a scorekeeper, manager or coach for various teams during the Spring and Summer seasons. I enjoy working with kids and getting to know new families each year. I look forward to continuing my support for DLL as secretary.

Charlie Gagne, Umpire-in-chief: I have been on the Little League Board since 2003 and was the Treasurer until 2007. I have a son and daughter who played during 2003-2006 and I coached both baseball and softball including a U11 baseball team that went to states. When my kids stopped playing, I stayed involved in umpiring and became the Chief Umpire in 2009.  I had the honor of being the plate umpire for the 2016 State Majors Championship game.

Sarah Jarboe, Sponsorship: I am a mom of little leaguers in Minors and Machine Pitch, and an incoming t-baller.  I have been a team manager, score keeper, and coach’s wife.  I look forward to serving the DLL community as a board member this year.

Tracy Lambert, Baseball Commissioner: I have lived in Dexter my entire life.  My kids are the 5th generation on my families side to go to Dexter Community Schools.  I have 3 children and 2 of them have been playing Little League since they were in T-ball.  My oldest is 11 and entering his last major year with the League while my middle child is 9 and has a few more years left to play.  My daughter is 5 and she is very happy to socialize at the fields while watching her brothers for now! My husband Kevin has coached our sons both during their regular season and even this year during their participation in the All-Star teams!  Our Spring is very busy- which is why now I thought it would be a good time to get involved on helping the League.  I've been around Dexter Little League even before my kids, watching my nephews play too- they are now 18 and 21. I look forward to watching the 2019 season kids grow and helping the League to have a successful season!

Bryce McAllister, Safety Director:  I have two kids in DLL.  My son is 11 and has played tee ball, machine pitch and now minors. My daughter is 9 and has played tee ball and softball machine pitch.  I have been a head or assistant coach in the DLL each season during the spring and summer programs.  This will be my fourth year on the DLL Board and I am excited to be back. I look forward to working with the program in the Safety role.

Lisa Walter, Softball Commissioner:  This is my first year on the DLL board. My daughter started playing Tee Ball when we moved here in 2015, and this year she will be starting her first year of Minors softball. My son started playing Tee Ball in summer 2017, and would spend every day on the baseball field if we let him. My husband Randy has head coached Tee Ball and assistant coached machine pitch softball. I’ve spent lots of time at the field as assistant coach, snack provider, occasional scorekeeper, and Tee Ball dugout parent. I look forward to serving the Dexter community and contributing towards a great 2019 season!

Cathy Niemiec, Treasurer: This is my third year on the DLL board.  Last year I was the Sponsorship Director and this year I am the Treasurer. My two sons, Jack and Nick have been involved with DLL since T-Ball.  Jack and Nick will both play Majors this year. I continue to look forward to serving the Dexter Community by being involved with DLL.
Carrie Rettig, Communications: This is my first year on the DLL Board and will be my fourth year as a DLL Mom!My family (Matt, Aaron, Scarlet-the pup) and I moved to Dexter almost 4 years ago and joined DLL as a way to meet and developed connections with members of this amazing community. We started DLL on Coach Michelle Evans’ T-Ball team (go Blue Wahoos!!!) and have been hooked ever since. Aaron is now 8 yo and this will be his last year playing MP, before he graduates to Minors this Summer. Matt was a pitcher in HS & loves helping out when he can, and since I have zero baseball experience, other than being a lifelong Tigers fan, I thought it would make perfect sense to give back to DLL as a board member! So, if you can’t already tell, DLL is more than just a game our kid plays on. I am extremely excited to be apart of such an amazing organization that supports our community’s youth; giving everyone a chance to learn respect, self discipline, how to be part of a group, social and motor skills, while at the same time allowing them to be kids and have fun! I look forward to seeing everyone join us out on the ball field!

Katie Stepaniak, Player Agent: This is my first year on the DLL board and I am very excited. I have a son who is in Minors baseball, and my daughter plays in the Challenger League. I look forward to working with the players, families and coaches as well as other board members to ensure all our children are learning new skills and ENJOYING the sport. My favorite thing about baseball and softball is that being part of a team environment a child can learn so much about how to work with others, respect, self control, self worth, and many many other vital social skills that will help our children grow and will carry over into everyday life.  We Are Dread Strong!

Jennifer Taylor, Concessions Coordinator: I’ve been on Dexter little league board the past 11 years. My son Liam plays in Majors; this is his last year of Dexter Little League. My three other sons all played Dexter Little League.  I love being apart of Dexter Little League.
Brian Tracy, Fundraising Director:  This is my first year on the board and I am very excited to join this amazing organization.  My son Liam is 9 and has played with the DLL for the past 5 years.  As a family, we have enjoyed watching Liam make new friends and learn valuable life lessons on and off the field.  I look forward to working with the community and my fellow board members to make the 2019 season a success for all involved.

Rob Burke, Equipment Manager
Tom Arbaugh, Field Manager: My name is Tom Arbaugh. This is my first year on the Dexter Little League Board, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help assist our program as Fields Manager.  Our family moved to Dexter 6 years ago, and have truly enjoyed being a part of this community and in particular our local youth sports.  I have been coaching little league baseball for 5 years and travel baseball for 3 years.  I've also been involved in coaching our local youth football and basketball programs. My wife, Becky, has also been involved in coaching softball and baseball. Additionally, she is an active board member of our Dexter Youth Football League.  Both of us had the opportunity to compete as youth in grade school and collegiately. Sports has always been a big part of our lives, and we enjoy sharing in these experiences with our own children as well as others.  My son, Brady, is currently in 4th grade and has been playing little league for 5 seasons now. He is currently in Minors division for little league.  This will also be his 3rd season playing for a local travel baseball team.  My daughter, Nora, is currently in 1st grade and has been playing little league for 2 seasons.  She played in Machine-Pitch Softball division last season and will be again next season. She additionally loves cheerleading, dancing, and swimming.  I look forward to watching our children and their friends grow up together both on and off the athletic fields.  I feel truly blessed to have these opportunities in life and hope I can continue to help provide a positive learning environment for our active youth.
