Introducing the 2019/20 Dexter Little League Board!

Tom Arbaugh, Field Manager: My name is Tom Arbaugh. This is my first year on the Dexter Little League Board, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to help assist our program as Fields Manager.  Our family moved to Dexter 6 years ago, and have truly enjoyed being a part of this community and in particular our local youth sports.  I have been coaching little league baseball for 5 years and travel baseball for 3 years.  I've also been involved in coaching our local youth football and basketball programs. My wife, Becky, has also been involved in coaching softball and baseball. Additionally, she is an active board member of our Dexter Youth Football League.  Both of us had the opportunity to compete as youth in grade school and collegiately. Sports has always been a big part of our lives, and we enjoy sharing in these experiences with our own children as well as others.  My son, Brady, is currently in 4th grade and has been playing little league for 5 seasons now. He is currently in Minors division for little league.  This will also be his 3rd season playing for a local travel baseball team.  My daughter, Nora, is currently in 1st grade and has been playing little league for 2 seasons.  She played in Machine-Pitch Softball division last season and will be again next season. She additionally loves cheerleading, dancing, and swimming.  I look forward to watching our children and their friends grow up together both on and off the athletic fields.  I feel truly blessed to have these opportunities in life and hope I can continue to help provide a positive learning environment for our active youth.

Melissa Boobyer, Player Agent In 2012, my son and I moved to Dexter and we immediately wanted to be part of this great community.  I decided to join the board in 2013 starting as the Safety Director, President for four years and now acting as the Player Agent.  My son Reed loved Little League and is hoping to play for the High School team next year. I have had an opportunity to be a parent, a coach, a leader to engage the community with the love of the game as well as this wonderful city.  It is truly a privilege to serve to players and their families!

Rick Brandt, Vice President: I have a daughter & son in Dexter Little League; my daughter plays Majors softball and my son is in Minors baseball. I've coached at all levels of softball and baseball for Little League, and have had the honor of coaching the 10U Softball All-Star Team to a District 3 Championship in 2017 (with an appearance in the state Little League tournament in 2017), and the 12U Softball All-Star Team to a District 3 Championship in 2018. This is my second year on the DLL board.

Samantha Brandt, President: I am in my fifth year on the DLL Board, and am excited to take on the President role this year. I was previously the information and website director for three years, and a Member at Large in 2019. My daughter played softball from MP through Majors, and was a three-time District 3 Champion. My son will be in his first year of Majors Baseball in 2020 and made it to the Final Four in the state LL Tournament for Minors in 2019. I am excited to share the fun and joy of Little League with the community!

You can find me at the fields scorekeeping on my phone, sometimes also knitting, and always with two pairs of glasses on my head.

Stacey Cappelli, Secretary
Patti Casavant, Member-at-Large  I grew up in the Detroit area and a lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers!

After being gone for many years I returned in 2010 and moved to Dexter with my husband Jeff and two boys Matthew ( 12) and Ryan ( 10). We have enjoyed being part of this community. My son Ryan will be in his first year of Majors Baseball in 2020 and also made it to the Final Four in the state Little League tournament for Minors in 2019. This is my first year on the Dexter Little League Board. I am excited for a new year to assist the Dexter Little League program as a Member at Large. I also helped on the Fundraising committee last season. Previously I have been on the Board and Business member for the Dexter Chamber of Commerce as I arrived in Dexter where it fostered immediate business connections for me. I have a passion for business networking and I still love to help further the interests of local businesses!

Mike Cipolla, Member-at-Large

My name is Mike Cipolla. I am the father of two boys here in the district. Paul (11) and Luke (9) They both love playing Dexter Little League in the spring. I have been a coach for four seasons. I truly enjoy working with the kids and seeing how excited they become when they do something new or achieve a goal they have set. Baseball teaches us all invaluable lessons that we take out into our lives. Teamwork, perseverance, and having a positive attitude can overcome most obstacles.

I volunteer in many capacities within the district. I have coached other sports teams and I am currently vice-president on the Ed. Foundation board. We support our amazing teachers. I love all sports and the outdoors. I will continue to work hard to make Dexter Little League and Dexter a better place for everyone.

Neale Danridge, Equipment Manager  This is my second year with Dexter Little League, and my first on the baord.  My daughter Abby was in machine pitch softball last year and I coached my son Cooper’s Tball team.  Everyone had a lot of fun and learned a lot.  We faced many weather related challenges last season and I was really impressed by leadership’s commitment to bringing it all together as we approached the final game of the spring tournament.  I feel fortunate to have this opportunity to contribute to a great program.

Charlie Gagne, Treasurer and Umpire-in-chief: I have been on the Little League Board since 2003. 2019-2020 is my second time in the Treasurer’s role (2003-2007 initially). I have a son and daughter who played during 2003-2006 and I coached both baseball and softball. When my kids stopped playing, I started umpiring and became the Chief Umpire in 2009. I’ve been involved in lots of aspects of the DLL over the years. I had the honor of being the plate umpire for the 2016 State Majors Championship game.
Kerri Godfrey, Sponsorship

Natalie Hoffman, Softball Commissioner  My name is Natalie Hoffman.  This is my first year on the DLL board.  My daughter Vivian is in 5th grade entering her second season in Minors and seventh season with DLL.   My son Harrison is in 3rd grade entering his first season in Minors and fifth season in DLL.   My husband Ben also loves baseball and has coached many of Harrison’s teams.

I love softball and played for 12 years.   Little League Softball brought many things to my life:  a safe place to challenge both my mind and body, experiences that sometimes tested, but ultimately built, my self-confidence, a respite from the “outside” world, and lifelong friendships.   My hope is each girl that joins DLL Softball has both the challenges and support that I experienced so she too can look back on her Little League experience as a positively impactful part of her childhood.

Ryan Kline, Baseball Commissioner  My wife Mauren and I have lived in Dexter for twelve years and have two sons, Dallin (8) and Will (7).  Our boys have been involved in DLL for four years and I have enjoyed helping coach the past three. They will be starting their first year of minors this season.  This is my first year as a DLL board member and I’m looking forward to another great year of seeing all the kids learning about and enjoying this great game!
Carrie Rettig, Member-at-largeThis is my first year on the DLL Board and will be my fourth year as a DLL Mom! My family (Matt, Aaron, Scarlet-the pup) and I moved to Dexter almost 4 years ago and joined DLL as a way to meet and developed connections with members of this amazing community. We started DLL on Coach Michelle Evans’ T-Ball team (go Blue Wahoos!!!) and have been hooked ever since. Aaron is now 8 yo and this will be his last year playing MP, before he graduates to Minors this Summer. Matt was a pitcher in HS & loves helping out when he can, and since I have zero baseball experience, other than being a lifelong Tigers fan, I thought it would make perfect sense to give back to DLL as a board member! So, if you can’t already tell, DLL is more than just a game our kid plays on. I am extremely excited to be apart of such an amazing organization that supports our community’s youth; giving everyone a chance to learn respect, self discipline, how to be part of a group, social and motor skills, while at the same time allowing them to be kids and have fun! I look forward to seeing everyone join us out on the ball field!
