Message from DLL Board
Hello DLL families,
I hope this message finds all of you safe and well.
As a four-year Dexter Little League board member, I thought I was somewhat prepared to be this year's President.
I was excited for our players to enjoy the new Creekside Quad fields, excited about the large number of softball teams we put together this spring, excited to have a Juniors baseball team, and DLL was planning to host District tournaments for both softball and baseball.
However nothing prepared anyone for what our community, state, country and world is going through right now.
We shared previously that Little League International has recommended that all leagues suspend activities until May 11, and we are following that recommendation.
That said, our Board Members are continuing to plan for the 2020 season with the hopes that we still get to play ball. We understand that the May 11 date may be optimistic, but as of today we’re crossing our fingers and toes.
Normally at this time we’d be up to our ballcaps in game & practice scheduling, uniform ordering, sponsorship procuring, field improving, umpire training, etc.
But for today, we are going to take our kids outside so they can play catch in the sun because someday - hopefully soon - we’ll be back playing baseball and softball.
And we can’t wait.
-Samantha and the DLL Board
Since our coaches can’t run practices and we won’t be starting games mid-April as we’d planned, we encourage you to head outside and play catch with your ball player! We’ve
created a page
on our website with resources you can reference; we'll add to it as we find more to share.
FLOWER SALE UPDATE
The DLL Board has debated the topic of hosting our annual flower sale and the conclusion is, there is no conclusion. Many in our community look forward to the flower sale, so we are trying to gauge people’s interest in us going forward. Orders would be placed online with a credit card (no paper order forms or cash/check) and we’d have flower pickup organized to reduce person to person contact.
Please take a moment to give us your feedback on the sale by March 31. Thank you.
